2021 Release Schedule Change (DO NOT FREAK OUT)

Hi!

Thank you so much for helping me celebrate the release of Brothersong. It’s been a joy to watch you all discover what the last book would be like, and I’m over the moon (ha!) about the journey you’ve all been on with Carter and Gavin. It still hasn’t quite hit me that it’s over, but that’s just me wanting to hang on to them for as long as I can. I’ll get there.

With Brothersong out, that means my releases for 2020 are done. Thank you for this year. It has been beyond even my wildest dreams, and I so appreciate each and every one of you.

Does it sound like I’m buttering you up?

Good. Because I sort of am.

With this last book out, it’s time to look at what comes next. And with that, a few changes in terms of my release schedule for 2021.

This is just about the timing, nothing to do with the stories. If you have pre-ordered any of my upcoming titles, your pre-orders are safe! No need to try and order again since dates are shifting.

Tor is moving Under the Whispering Door to September 2021. We are having so much fun promoting House and The Extraordinaries that we want to give Under the Whispering Door its very own moment. And moving the book to September gives Whispering Door a better chance at arriving in a world that’s closer to the (new) normal.

So, here’s how 2021 is going to look:

  • Fairytales from Verania (short story collection): April 2021 (Date TBD)

  • Flash Fire, the sequel to The Extraordinaries: July 13, 2021

  • Under the Whispering Door: September 21, 2021

  • The Damning Stone (Tales from Verania Book V): December 2021 (Date TBD)

I appreciate your patience on this! The Tor/Tor Teen book dates should be firm, but I’m giving myself a bit of wiggle room for the Verania books, in case I need to shift a week or two, which is why I’m not yet giving a specific date for either of those.

I know delays can suck, but this is for a very good reason, and I’m on board with this decision.  Plenty to look forward to in 2021!

I hope you and yours are staying healthy and safe, and thank you for making this year my best yet!

Are you sure this should still be a fist full of awesome? I think you’ve moved on to a shit ton of awesome. Do you think you’ll write another book in the House by the Cerulean Sea universe? Can’t wait for the next books in the Verania series!

I really don't care when or for how long things get shifted around so long as I get them. Honestly, I love your books, writing style, stories, and especially your characters that I would wait till the skies end for another book from you!

It doesn’t matter to me WHEN the books release though of course sooner is always better, I’m just happy to get to read them. Thanks for sharing your wonderful book-people with me. I adore them all! ❤️
